Peedy the Parrot - Text-to-Speech Reader
Natural Readers - another option for Text-to-Speech

Peedy the Parrot is a feature of the Science and Social Studies programs. Peedy (aka MS Agent) is a screen reader; he reads the text on the page. Peedy uses old technology which works poorly on Windows XP and Vista and not at all on Mac or Firefox. The MS Agent was designed for Windows 98.

Today, we recommend using a more modern speech reader. If you would like to pursue the use of Peedy with your child's program,(which we do not recommend) click here to see further instructions on downloading all of the components.

We do recommend another text-to-speech reader available called Natural Readers, which seems to work well with the Time4Learning technology.

Note about Natural Readers: If you decide to use Natural Readers, you will still have Peedy integrated in your Time4Learning program. Natural Readers will not replace Peedy. It will be an additonal program on your desktop that you wil need to open anytime you want to use it.

Peedy the Parrot, MS Agent for Internet Explorer

Peedy will generally be available on the "Extension" lessons in the upper levels and will only be available when using Internet Explorer as your browser.

Peedy is no longer supported by Microsoft. This means we cannot offer any downloads for additonal components needed to run Peedy. Windows XP and Vista users may want to try Natural Readers.
