Time4Learning is popular as a Eighth grade homeschool curriculum, for afterschool enrichment, for remediation, and as a summer school alternative.

Eighth Grade Language Arts and Reading

The eighth grade language arts program begins with a focus on stylistic features of reading and writing various genres. How-to articles, informational articles, short stories, poetry and persuasive pieces are analyzed by students through the techniques of cartooning, research, journalism, and interpretation completed within the provided literature and through the Odyssey Writer.

Five integrated language arts units thematically enhance student learning through a combination of reading, writing, and comprehension lessons, followed by extension activities on spelling conventions, accurate use of apostrophes, and the correct usage of parts of speech.

The eighth grade curriculum culminates with the examination and application of multiple editing strategies inclusive of; proofreading skills, correct sentence structure, various sentence types (complex sentences and parallel structure in sentences using grammatical repetition,) infinitive phrases, progressive forms of verbs, and dangling modifiers to increase students’ writing performance.

Many parents have expressed interest in purchasing the full versions of the authentic literature excerpted in the Language Arts section. They can be purchased at the links below but they DO NOT need to be purchased in order to use Time4Learning.

Eighth Grade Math

The eighth grade math curriculum expands to teach complex strategies involved in five units if study: Number Sense, Algebra, Geometry, Data Analysis, and Problem Solving. Through a series of mathematic investigations, students will use computation strategies, graphical data, and formulas to solve and interpret problems. 8th Grade Math Lesson Plans

Eighth grade students will calculate squares and square roots, use exponents, and identify discounts, sale price, and tax through online math lessons. Interactive activities will expand to include new concepts in measurement and geometry with students recognizing angle relationships, circle characteristics, and geometric formulas (perimeter, area, and circumference.) Eighth grade math students will conclude their curriculum by creating frequency tables, and histograms and by identifying extremes, quartiles, median, and range of ordered sets in data analysis and probability lessons. Online Algebra is available upon request.

8th Grade Lessons - Time4Learning's Program Structure

Time4Learning provides an interactive student paced curriculum. When the student logs in, they can choose which subject to study. The lessons are organized into units which include multimedia lessons, interactive exercises, printable worksheets for reinforcement, optional parent-teaching guides (with answer keys for the printable worksheets in math) for more indepth work, assessments, a complete printable lesson plan, and online progress reports.

Reports/ Assessments/ Printable Worksheets. Time4Learning understands the importance of tracking student progress.  Eighth grade assessments and quizzes are given throughout the chapters and are automatically graded upon completion.  Parents are able to access the grades and assignments in the reports section by using their own logins and passwords.  The reports section is printable, as are the lessons plans. In addition Time4Learning provides Eighth grade printable worksheets. Parental support is also given through our online parents forum where discussions and questions may be posted amongst experienced users and those that are "just looking".
